We like to keep things simple with these regular updates. If you have any questions about this, or would like to dig deeper, the folks on the Investment Committee love to get nerdy with it; don’t hesitate to reach out.
VERECAN IN THE WILD

There’s News and then there’s NEWS.
We’ve been finding ourselves in the news a lot in 2025. For all the right reasons, of course! Lately, regarding our own recent announcement adding cross-border solutions to our offering. You can read more about that HERE.
Rest assured that this doesn’t mean we’re giving up our Canadian roots! After all, Verecan means “truly Canadian.” (If we haven’t told you the story of how we got our name, that’s the short version!)
What it does mean is that we’re able to provide solutions to folks with a cross-border footprint. This is something we’re proud to be able to offer and is rare in our industry. If you know anyone who can benefit from this service, please let us know.
You can also find Josh Sheluk chatting about the risks of speculative investing in Wealth Professional Magazine and the risks of using AI for financial planning in The Toronto Star.
You can also catch Colin White chatting with Kelsey Rolfe at The Globe and Mail about some of the challenges faced by both the estate and the beneficiaries when people attempt to exert control on what is done with their bequests from the great beyond.
“Dying With Zero.” As part of a new regular feature for Kootenay Biz, Ainsley Mackie touches on some of the more challenging financial plans people attempt to put in place.

Verecan Over the Holidays
LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN
However you celebrate, we hope this will be the most wonderful time of the year! This year we have three Community Breakfast – Toy Drives happening across Canada. On November 30th in Nelson, BC we partner with friends The Adventure Hotel & Pinnacle Accounting. On December 7th in Powell River, BC we elf it up with our neighbours at Underwriters Insurance. Finally, on December 14th we’re with our pals at Burlington Helping Burlington. Each location features breakfast in exchange for a new unwrapped gift for a child or teen in need.
If you’re in Nelson, Powell River, or Burlington and would like to attend the breakfast, please reach out to Katrina in our Toronto office, at katrina.cooke@verecan.com for more information.
(Side note, if you’ve met our CEO Colin White in person, Santa may look familiar…)
In 2025 we’re again supporting Brigadoon Village with our second annual Holiday Lights raffle with our friends at Perpetual Services in Nova Scotia. If you’re in Nova Scotia you can purchase tickets for a chance to be the lucky winner of a holiday lighting package for your home!
